Resumen

The aim of the present study was to develop a level of competence that is not normally found in graduate or post-graduate chemistry courses, through a didactic intervention in the discipline of spectrometric analysis of organic compounds. The methodology of the work consisted in the analysis of a sample of a compound unknown individually by each student. Whereas organic compounds spectroscopy is most often learned and practiced, this intervention allows students to become comfortable with 1H and 13C NMR, and IR spectroscopy, in addition to mass spectrometry. Throughout the didactic intervention the students, through a thematic seminary, presented the results of the analysis of the spectra from the different techniques used. With the skills acquired from completing this laboratory work, the students become well-prepared to perform spectroscopic analyzes in subsequent experiments encountered in the organic chemistry laboratory.
