Science in Psychology: J. R. Kantor’s Field Theory

Abstract

The implications of Kantor’s concept of fieid theory in psychoiogy are discussed. Points of compatibiity between Kantor’s theoreticai program and Skinner’s experimen­tal program are indicated. The importance of Kantor’s interbehaviorai principie is stres­sed, and it is pointed out that Skinner and his followers have frequently failed to utiize the principie in their program. Finaliy, iiustrative exampies are given of the potentiai mherent in Kantor’s field theory to resoive persistent probiems in psychoiogy.
