Evaluation of the mechanical properties of concrete prepared with RATE and SCBA
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article evaluates the effects of the addition of sugarcane bagasse ash (scba), in combination with recycled aggregates gathered from thermo-expanded clay (rate) when preparing concrete mixes. For this purpose, a total of nine mixes were prepared, considering replacements of Portland cement at 0%, 10% and 20% by scba, and coarse aggregate replacements at 0%, 50% and 100% of rate. Using these combinations, a total of 81 concrete specimens were prepared with a water/cementitious materials ratio (w/cm) of 0.50, in all cases the results were based on tests at 7, 14 and 28 days of age. The results revealed that as the scba and rate contents increase, the mechanical properties in all the concrete mixes decrease, albeit to varying degrees.
