<p><strong>Introduction</strong>: The care provided to Nursing professionals is a complex and demanding act, in which knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during academic training are poured. <strong>Development</strong>: Caring is one of the main activities of this profession; performing it to improve people's health is a job that is not necessarily linked to the act of professionals taking care of themselves. This essay explores 3 fundamental aspects that we consider influence the self-care deficit that occurs in the nursing professional; First, the approach to various health problems that the nursing professional experiences associated with their work environment and the act of caring itself, followed by the relationship that the theory of self-care deficit has in the development of care, the third is the association which has a null curriculum of the health professional's self-care deficit in the main health problems that nurses currently face and that lead to non-compliance with the objectives of the profession in the medium to long term. <strong>Conclusion</strong>: As a response to the aspects that academic training has an impact on the development of self-care deficit in nurses, the need for the creation, development and implementation of subjects focused on the management of self-care deficit in nursing professionals arises. . , which can be taught from the initial training level, even if these are initially only elective subjects.</p>
