Impact of professional support on the acquisition of healthy eating habits

Abstract

Overweight and obesity have statistically increased, according to ENSANUT 2016, Mexico ranks first in the world for childhood obesity and the second place of obesity in the adult population, so it is essential to address the effectiveness of professional guidance for a healthy lifestyle that in turn allows to reflect this condition with the decrease in the Body Mass Index (BMI) , however, there are still no epidemiological data on this topic and how effective it can be despite the health sector implementing guidelines for the adoption of a healthy life for overweight, obese and non-diabetic patients. Therefore, this article presents the importance of guidance for a healthy lifestyle, conducting a study with the aim of knowing if the population who has had information and guidance on the topic of overweight and obesity, have a healthier ethyl lifestyle. This study was carried out with the university population of the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza, women and men between 18 and 25 years of age, forming a total of 300 subjects. Results: 68% of the study’s total population was obtained from receiving guidance on the benefits of changes in lifestyle habits, adopted healthy behaviors, and although these have not been sufficient, they are willing to go to consultation to receive professional care and improve their quality of life.
