Abstract

Addressing overweight and obesity in the university community is vitally important because of its implications for students’ short- and long-term health and well-being. From a social work perspective, this issue is particularly relevant because social workers play a key role in promoting health and well-being, preventing disease, and intervening in crisis situations. Overweight and obesity not only affect students’ physical health, but can also have a significant impact on their mental and emotional health. Students who are overweight or obese may face stigmatization, low self-esteem, and other body image issues, which can affect their academic performance and overall well-being. Therefore, it is essential that social workers are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to address these issues effectively within the university environment. This article was written with the aim of analyzing the physical exercise habits of university students at FES Zaragoza, UNAM. The importance of this study lies in understanding how the increasingly common sedentary lifestyle affects the health of young people.
