Factores predictores de función cognitiva, sintomatología de depresión y ansiedad en pacientes con cáncer de mama

Resumen

La sintomatología depresiva, de ansiedad y en conjunto con las afectaciones de la función cognitiva representan problemas de salud mental en el grupo de pacientes con cáncer de mama que repercuten en su funcionalidad y calidad de vida. El objetivo del presente estudio fué identificar la prevalencia de afectación cognitiva, sintomatología de ansiedad y depresión, así como los factores predictores psicosociales, clínicos y sociodemográficos de estas variables. Se evaluaron 174 pacientes con diagnóstico de cáncer de mama en tratamiento oncológico del Instituto Nacional de Cancerología (INCan). Se utilizaron el mini examen del estado mental (MMSE) y la escala hospitalaria de ansiedad y depresión (HADS). Se identificaron niveles de sintomatología de depresión de 40%, de ansiedad 45% y afectación en función cognitiva del 58%. Los factores asociados con afectación cognitiva son síntomas de depresión y ansiedad; con depresión, afectación en función cognitiva, metástasis y ansiedad; y con síntomas de ansiedad, afectación en función cognitiva y depresión. La ansiedad, depresión y afectación cognitiva son problemas clínicamente significativos en pacientes con cáncer de mama; se tienen que desarrollar programas de atención psicosocial oportuna para el grupo de pacientes que presente estas afectaciones.
