Abstract

Social well-being allows the individual to value his or her functioning in society, it is linked to people’s health. It has been suggested that those individuals who better levels of social well-being are also those who reflect better health, that is, the greater the well-being, the greater the health. The objective of the present study was to analyze the factor structure, internal consistency and validity of the Keyes1, 14 Social Well-Being Scales, 14 in the Mexican population. The results support a three-factor model with a structure of 14 items that explain 53.3% of the variance. The overall internal consistency index was α=.84. The factors that make up the scale are three: contribution to society, role in society, and social progress. A valid and reliable instrument was obtained to evaluate social well-being in the Mexican population.
