Abstract

The basic methodological characteristics of the experimental analysis of behavior are set forth in order to clarify the more distinguishing features of a functional view of language, Some relevant issues in current (psycho)/inguistic theory are discussed to ¡Ilustrate the differences between the experimental analysis and traditionally formalistic approaches. In addition, an attempt is made to answer a few of the more recurrent misunderstandings with respect to verbal behavior.
