Fragmentación social en Irapuato, Guanajuato

Abstract

Irapuato is the case study. An example of a city half in Mexico and by extension Latin America. During the last decade of the century XX has produced a new urban scene: the made up of the centrality, the dispersion and the fragmentation of the city like manifestations of a new urban model. These urban transformations are producing social fragmentation in the city of Irapuato, Guanajuato, which identifies through of two representative space the Historical Centre, in the compact city, and Villas de Irapuato, in the dispersed city. It exists, in addition, a third element of dispersion not only fisicomaterial, but also socioeconomic: the Plaza Cibeles, commercial ground that has been determining in the social fragmentation of the city.
