Abstract
This paper summarizes the influence of French theorist Françoise Choay as a researcher and teacher, particularly her leading role in graduate programs, where she promoted the translation into French of essential works on city planning, architecture and heritage conservation, by authors such as Cerdà, Sitte and Giovannoni, which were originally written in other languages.
