Extended Aesthetics as a Perspective for the Design of Experiences
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article proposes the concept of extended aesthetics, allowing for a deeper understanding of how the subject’s sensibility is affected both beforehand and afterwards by all types of experiences, such as attending a concert, taking a trip or going to a restaurant, among others.
Extended aesthetics allows us to design longer-lasting experiences that can become more meaningful for the subject. The design of experiences has been rising in importance due to the consumption habits of the younger generations, who not only avoid banal experiences such as going to stores, but also prefer the consumption of experiences to the possession of goods. Finally, the article explains seven elements that remove the veil of abstraction from the design of experiences, constituting a proposal that can serve as the basis for the development of models and methods that seek to design meaningful experiences through a prolongation of the experience.
