Abstract

The objective of this article is to evaluate the impact of mixed reality technology on the user’s perception of architectonic space. Thirty-five informants participated in a real test consisting of a croquis and architectonic blueprints + CAVE + CAVE + real space and a real test consisting of architectonic blueprints and real space + MAGIC LEAP. The application of mixed reality technology in architectonic space positively impacted the user's perceptions of the concepts of distance, depth and the permissiveness of movement within virtual and physical space, modifying the transition between architectonic spaces. No statistically significant differences were found in terms of efficiency of time spent and number of consultations made. It would be necessary to make adaptations to existing mixed reality technology in visual, auditory and kinesthetic aspects and to study its effectiveness in architectonic space.
