Ciudad Satélite: The Modern Lifestyle of the Mexican Middle Class
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article studies the case of Ciudad Satélite from its origins as a real estate development in Mexico State, a product of the zoning regulations restricting middle-class developments in what was then the Federal District. It also examines the design project, based on the model of the British "new town," and its relationship with the modern suburb. Lastly, there is an examination of the modern lifestyle of the Ciudad Satélite middle class that draws on the notions of habitus and symbolic capital.
