Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review recent work in nutritional problems of women and children in developing countries. A selective survey of the present state of knowledge in women's nutrition provides information about factors affecting diet. infant feeding practices, food requirements and utilization and the biosocial consequences and causes of malnutrition. General conclusions are drawn in reviewing this literature with emphasis on the importance of an adaptive perspective focusing in the integration of biological. cultural, political and economic aspects on nutritional research.
