Somatotipología infantil en dos grupos socioeconómicos de la Ciudad de México

Abstract

The somatotypes of two groups of boys and girls belonging to two different socioecotromic strata are analized and compared. In a previous article (Villanueva 1979) it was shown thot muscularity is different in both groups being higher in children of the high socioeconomic level. Nevertheless using the Heath-Carter's method for somatotyping, the results do not indicate the existence of a significant difference between the groups, This induces us to believe that by this method, mesomorphy in children might not be evaluated correctly.
