Abstract
There is archeological, ethnographic and linguistic information
on indigenous American peoples going back to the early Sixteenth Century, but ¡eliable sources on Physical Anthrópolocv are not found until the Nineteenth Century. The Frenchmán Emmanuel H. D. Domenech is a forerunner of phvsical anthropoloqical research in Mexico. A letter addressed by him to Dr. A. Pruner-Bey in 1865, which may be considered the only extant report on his findings during a long stay in Mexico is published here for the first time. Brief comments on the importance of his research are included.
