Abstract

Archeological excavations of habitation units which are being carried out in the outskirts of the ancient city of Teotihuacan have made it possible to verify data regarding the practice of human sacrifice. According to the context in which some burials were found, we infer that human sacrifice was used to sacrilize certain spaces and architectural elements within apartment compounds. Further, There is a repetition of rituals enacted while constructing large monuments. The consecration of a space within a building establishes its center, a family meeting point where religious rituals were performed.
