Diversidad cultural y democracia en la ciudad de México: el caso de un pueblo originario
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article undertakes the semiotic analysis of a traditional story in Ngigua, an indigenous language whose last remaining speakers live in the southeast of Mexico. From the perspective of Russian formalism, the author proceeds to verify the functions of the story put forward by Vladimir Propp, in order to develop a critical approach to the proposals of Greimasian structuralism. Ngigua, also known as Chocholtec, together with Mazatec, Ixcatec and Popoloc, is one of the languages of the Otamangean family that is virtually extinct.
