Abstract

The book is made up of fourteen chapters, products of important research, presented during the First International Congress of Mesoamericanists in Japan, held at the Campus Innovation Center in Tokyo, on October 29 and 30, 2016, edited and coordinated by Kasuo Aoyama[ 1] and Rodrigo Liendo Stuardo[2].

[1] Doctor in anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently a full professor at Ibaraki University (Japan); He has specialized in studies on Mayan archeology, mainly. Some of the spaces in which he has worked are Aguada Fénix, Mexico, Copán, Honduras, Aguateca and Ceibal, Guatemala. He has collaborated on more than 250 publications on Mayan culture and Mesoamerica.

[2] Doctor in archeology from the University of Pittsburgh; full-time researcher at the Anthropological Research Institute, UNAM. He has studied various Mayan archaeological sites, and since 1996 he has been responsible for directing the Palenque Regional Project, of which he has published various titles.
