Abstract

Nils Castro, politologist and Panamenian historian, analyzes in this work an interesting aspect of the Ornar Torrijos' government, whom he was a close coworker: the incorporation of political persecuted as workers and the fast stop of repression, permitted him to assimilate the acceptance of great social groups outside of army headquarters and fortify inside them. In this way, in the seventies, a national project with great patriotic sense, social development and diplomatic virtuosity was able to be outlined; it redeemed a lot of Panamanian and succeeded in the elimination of the Zone of the Canal.
