BOLIVIA: NATIONALIZATION

Abstract

Without doubt, one of the most meaningful events in recent years is the access to power in Bolivia of Evo Morales and the shift to socialism. Profound changes have occurred in short order. The Bolivian writer Rafael Bautista S. contributes in this essay to an analysis of the recent nationalization of the natural gas industry, going so far in its historical antecedents to the ancient struggle of the Andean peoples to recapture their natural resources silver, oil, rubber, gas... from transnational capital, which has benefited from these resources for more than 500 years.
