Abstract

Gaston Cornejo-Bascope, a Bolivian medical doctor and writer and today a Senator of the Republic, presents in this work one of the central problems of Bolivia, an underdevelopment country who has the worst health indices of the continent, despite having the second largest gas reserves. Profound problems in the field of health, such as privatized mercantilism, deficient preventive medicine, drugs and labs devoted solely to profit, and consequent corruption, will be attacked, according to the author, through a National Health Service, currently in the process of gestation.
