ON THE FUTURE OF PHILOSOPHY IN MEXICO

Abstract

What is left of Mexican philosophy nowadays? What will be its development in the future? The Mexican philosopher Mauricio Beuchot, supported by his knowledge of the past and present of this discipline, reflects in this essay on the flux of philosophy in Mexico and puts forth some hypotheses concerning what it may become in the future. Beyond his concern with the history of philosophy ¡n Mexico, he grants a very important role to hermeneutics as a mediator enabling avoidance of the excesses of scientism and postmodernism.
