Abstract

"Until today, the globalization thus far imposed means only a strategy of domination, which emphasizes differences and amplifies inequalities peak with the concomitant loss of individual liberties", according to Cuban writer Rafael Carralero. The intentions of the powerful are to perpetuate a cultural monopoly, based on the ideology of the dollar or the Euro, with consequential threats to people's identity. This is why defense of local, national, and regional cultures is so imperative today.
