BOLIVIA: CHRONICLE OF AN ELITE INSURRECTION

Abstract

The dangers faced by Bolivia today, of internal and external confrontations and their backgrounds are analyzed in this chronicle authored by the Bolivian writer Rafael Bautista. The main risk is the dismemberment of the country in the face of a strategy followed mainly by the Bolivian provincial oligarchy called "la media luna" (the half moon), a dominant class which has seen its economic and political power diminished through the changes promoted by Evo Morales; such a strategy does not admit dialogue of any kind and encourages intolcrance underthe slogan "everything or nothing".
