Abstract

The Spanish researcher Iñigo Sarriugarte Gomez informs us in this essay that bestiaries have been a constant source of inspiration during the entire history of art, including his own post modernity, as illustrated by various relevant examples. The symbolic use of animais in literature and art conveys its adaptation to concrete personal need, in accord with an individual search, such as that realized by Francesco Clemente regarding the Manual offantastic zoology by Jorge Luis Borges, which is transferred quite subjectively to painting on canvas and to murals.
