Azúcar, Azúcar... una enfermedad llamada diabetes
Main Article Content
Abstract
Diabetes, a millennial sickness, is examined in this essay by four Mexican scientists, two of them U.S. residents: Lydia Aguilar-Bryan, Marcia Hiriart Urdanivia, Israel Lerman Garber and Gabriela Loperena Oropeza. It is interesting to note that even as advances in medical science have grown a great deal, life expectancy has also grown; paradoxically, chronic degenerative sicknesses, such as diabetes, are still prevalent, with 14.1% of the Mexican population over 20 years old affected.
