Abstract

"Without taking away the glory from everything has been said, with an excess of justice, concerning his trajectory and contributions as a patriot, as an Antillean, as literary critic, as essayist, and as an extraordinary professor, I came to say what others do not want or cannot say, because they do not understand". These words were part of the message pronounced by the Puerto Rican Historian Antonio Gaztambide Géigel in the Villa Palmeras cemetery, where a posthumous homage for Jose Ferrer Canales, one of the most loved intellectuals of the Island, took place.
