Abstract

To commemorate the death in 2004 of three great Latin American masters of the plastic arts —the Puerto Rican Lorenzo Homar and the Mexicans Alfredo Zalee and Alberto Beltrán—, the art historian and Puerto Rican painter Juan David Cupeles, has written this essay which dates from the time of his meetings in the Taller de la Gráfica Popular and the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios, in Mexico's turbulent period of the 1930s. In particular, he highlights its important work in taking the development of the graphic arts to its highest levels in America.
