Abstract
What about Latin American democracy is told to us by blatantly hegemonic right-wing, “yankee-ized” and neoliberal discourse? What is the image of the political map of Latin America broadcasted by the mass media? Gaya Makaran, a Polish Latin American researcher,
uses Bolivia as an example, a country now undergoing a deep transformation, to underline the paradoxically hegemonic discourse about Latin American democracy, in which democratic governments represent only the elite, repressing desires of the majority.
