Abstract

Objective: to assess the satisfaction of patients of the “Diabetimss” Module and its association with glycemic control in the Family Medicine Unit (fmu) no. 80, in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, from November 2014 to October 2015. Methods: cross-sectional and descriptive study. Patients diagnosed with Diabetes mellitus type 2 without complications were included, who stayed in the “Diabetimss” program for a year, attended 12 consultations (Family physician and Nutritionist) and 12 educational sessions (infirmary) oriented to achieve changes in their lifestyle, reach goals of control and prevent complications. Patients who did not answer the surveys, and did not have a recorded registration of glucose levels, were excluded. Results: 94 patients were included of 57.07 ±10.48 years of age, 54% women and 46% men. Glucose: 120.05 ±28.69 mg/dl, 65% in glycemic control (≤130 mg/dl) and 35% without control (>130 mg/dl). Level of satisfaction in the “Diabetimss” module was: in medical consultation, good-excellent (83%); in infirmary, good (96.8%) and in Nutrition, bad (65.9%). The association between satisfaction and glycemic control was not significant with the attendance of the medical consultation (p=0.199), infirmary (p=0.948) or nutrition (p=0.240). Conclusion: the satisfaction in the “Diabetimss” module was adequate with the infirmary and medical staff, and inadequate with the nutritional staff. There was no association between the level of satisfaction and the glycemic control.
