Evaluation of Adherence to the Clinical Practice Guidelines of Prenatal Control in Adolescents of a Family Medicine Unit of Morelia Michoacán, Mexico

Abstract

Objective: to analyze prenatal control in pregnant adolescents in accordance with the Clinical Practice Guidelines (cpg). Methods: observational, retrospective and cross-sectional study, through the review of 92 clinical records of pregnant adolescents assigned to the Family Medicine Unit no. 80 in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, from January 2014 to January 2015. The average age of girls was 17.4 ±2 years (ic 14-19 years), those incomplete records were excluded. The Certificate of Evaluation of the Process of Maternal Care for Primary Care was used to evaluate adherence to prenatal control, it was considered a suitable adherence higher than 80%. Frequency results are displayed (percentage). Results: it was showed that 50% of pregnant adolescents neither work nor study. Prenatal control began during the second trimester of pregnancy. 69.19% of adherence to cpg during prenatal care. Immunological test of pregnancy was performed in 18.1%, the confirmation of pregnancy in prenatal monitoring module was 79.8%. 48.9% of reluctant pregnant women were rejoined to health care; 88.3% had a priority appointment; and 36.2% were sent to the Maternal and Child Nurse Module. 58% had a timely detection of genitourinary infections and the appropriate treatment given to these women was 45.7%. Conclusions: adherence to the cpg is not suitable; deficiencies in the confirmation of the pregnancy, the number of reluctant pregnant women who rejoined health care and in the detection and treatment of genitourinary infections were identified.
