Abstract

Objective: to describe the epidemiological profile of pregnant adolescents assigned to the Family Medicine Unit (fmu) No. 80. Methods: cross-sectional and descriptive study. The sample was calculated by the finite population formula with an error of 0.10. From 186 pregnant patients who attended the fmu No. 80 from 2015 to 2016, the obtained sample was of 72 adolescents. Social and demographic, and clinic characteristics were investigated. The ff-sil questionnaire was applied for family functionality, the Graffar questionnaire for social and economic status, and the National Women’s Institute domestic violence questionnaire. The results are shown in frequencies and percentages. Results: it was determined that 71 (98.6%) of the patients was in late adolescence and 1 (1.4%) in early adolescence. Marriage prevailed in 30 (41.67%) and 52 (72.22%) came from a working class in the social and economic level. Smoking was found in 8 (11.1%) adolescents, followed by 5 (6.9%) alcohol abuse. Cervical vaginitis was found in 32 (44.44%) patients, followed by urinary tract infection in 18 (25%) patients. It was found that 33 (45.83%) adolescents came from families with a moderate dysfunctionality and 60 (83.33%) were in an abusive relation. Conclusions: the epidemiological profile of pregnant patients assigned to the fmu no. 80 includes adolescents over the age of 15, without addictions, working class and low social and economic level and with a certain degree of family dysfunctionality and partner violence.
