Abstract
Objective: To know the impact that has a comprehensive integral care on the Attention to the Diabetic Patient Program of the Mexican Social Security Institute (Diabetimss) in the metabolic control of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (dm2). Methods: Analytical and retrospective study. 507 records of patients of the Diabetimss program were assessed, attending the Family Medicine Unit (fmu) no. 13 imss in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, México. The study variables were sex, age, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, body mass index (bmi), abdominal circumference, fasting glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides. The statistical analysis was descriptive and inferential. For qualitative variables, percentages and frequencies were used; for the quantitative, average and standard deviation. Bivariate analysis was used with the t of Student to compare the biochemical and baseline clinical parameters and by the end of the program. Results: A significant decrease in fasting glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.05) was observed. Regarding the gender, significant differences were observed in cholesterol and bmi in favor of men and in weight and abdominal circumference in favor of women (p < 0.05). Conclusion: the multidisciplinary and integral intervention of the Diabetimss program had a positive impact on metabolic and clinical parameters, however, these results cannot be extrapolated to other Diabetimss modules given the characteristics of each of the populations attached to the fmu.
