Abstract

In Mexico there are few descriptions of larval stages of species of crabs that have hatched soon after the collection of gravid females. The present work was to realize the description of the megalopae of Uca Marguerita and the external morphology of the crab stages. The organisms were collected in the Camaronera inlet belonging to the Alvarado lagoon system, Ver of Alvarado, Ver., México. To obtain organisms was used a pyramidal net of 0.50 m in diameter and 1.0 m long with a mesh size of 250 μ. The live megalopae were transported in plastic buckets to the laboratory, then placed in a continuous recirculation system. The temperature was maintained at a 20-25 ° C and salinity 18-20 ‰. For a description of the megalopae were used the number and shape of seta of trophic, sensory and locomotives structures, of which schemes were undertaken and compared with four descriptions for megalopae of the same genus, the external morphology was described by patterns of shell, came to the seven stage crab.
