Movie Theatres Architecture of the British Cinema Chains in the Thirties: A Glimpse through the Work of Allen Eyles

Abstract
This paper deals with one of the building types that influenced the most the architecture of cinemas due to its broad dissemination in the printed specialized media. Such is the case with the movie theaters conceived during the thirties by the architects of the British cinema chains. By means of the work of Allen Eyles, leading figure in the development of the Anglo-Saxon historiography concerning the architecture of cinemas, I analyze some historical elements of this building type.
