Media Façades Elements for a Critical Discussion

Abstract

Media façades have burst into the contemporary architecture overlapping a two-dimensional, non-architectural (most of the times) and even dynamic– new layer of information. This is an extremely difficult reality to integrate into the traditional architectural practice. This article analyses this new element impact from three different perspectives: the architectural rationality, the opportunities that bring to the architectural project, and finally the challenges and contradictions that rise together with it.
