Outdoor Worship: The Churches of the ‘Education and Rest’ Holiday Cities in Spain
Main Article Content
Abstract
In mid-twentieth-century Spain, the Franco regime’s Education and Rest organization took on the difficult challenge of organizing leisure activities and vacations for the working class, and with it, that of guaranteeing Christian worship during the summer months. The churches of the holiday cities that were built in different parts of the country are examined in this paper, analyzing in detail the project strategies aimed at making it possible to use them outdoors.
