Abstract

MOTHER -CHILD INTERACTION AND MUSIC EDUCATION IN THE FIRST YEARS OF LIFE, ENCOMPASSES TWO IMPORTANT SUBJECTS INVESTIGATED AT LENGTH. RESEARCH ON EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC EDUCATION CONTRIBUTED WITH VALUABLE INFORMATION ABOUT MUSICAL GROWTH AND BEHAVIOR OF THE VERY YOUNG. NO LESS IMPORTANT IS THE ISSUE OF MOTHER-CHILD INTERACTION, IN WHICH CHILD LEARNS THE TRADITIONS, VALUES AND BEHAVIORS CULTURALLY EXPECTED. THE PRESENT PAPER DESCRIBES THE IMPLICATIONS OF MOTHER/FATHER-CHILD INTERACTION IN A MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR 3 YEARS OLD CHILDREN WITH MUM OR DAD IN BUENOS AIRES CITY, ARGENTINA. ALSO THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS PROGRAM AND THE BENEFITS FOR THE PARTICIPANTS ARE EVALUATED. PARENT'S PARTICIPATION IS ESTABLISHED, AND THE ROLES THEY HAVE TO ASSUME, BOTH IN THE CLASSROOM AND AT HOME, TO INCREASE CHILD'S MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE INTEGRATION OF MUSIC IN THE CHILD AND FAMILY EVERYDAY LIFE. IT IS ALSO DESCRIBED HOW THIS PROGRAM PROPITIATE MUSIC MAKING, AND TO WHAT EXTENT IT CONTRIBUTES TO THE BOND STRENGTHENING AND COMMUNICATION.
