Abstract

The article presents a critical reading of Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez’ aesthetic theory from a perspective that considers the renewal of the Marxist aesthetics and art theory necessary. The key question that the author of the article poses is whether it is possible to (re)construct a theory of art from Marx’s writings. If the answer is yes, how would such a theory look like? The investigation focuses on certain interpretations of the young Marx and the Marx from Capital that are also addressed by Sánchez Vázquez and the reading of which is discussed in this article.

Es profesor de Historia de la Cultura Europea en la Universidad Hanns Eisler de Berlín.Doctor en Historia del Arte, ha publicado Hacia una crítica de la economía política del arte (2008), Iconoclasia, historia del arte y lucha de clases (2009) premio Escritos sobre Arte de la Fundación Arte y Derecho, Da natureza de escritores artistas e vermes.Ensaio sobre o pracer do traballo nun diálogo con Karl Marx (2014) premio Ramón Piñeiro de ensayo, y junto a PSJM Mercado Total/Total Market (2015).Además de numerosas publicaciones en revistas especializadas ha editado Aínda, O Capital.Novas perspectivas acerca de Marx e O Capital en Alemaña (2009) y William Morris: Trabajo y comunismo (2014).
