Resumo

At the end of the 60s, a series of intellectuals worried about theorizing the economic dependence of their newly independent countries emerged in the anglophone Caribbean. His works dialogued with the theory of Latin American dependency, but they started from their own critical traditions and conversed with other influences such as African thought about neo-colonialism. In these contributions, the race-class relationship was present in a more incisive way, as well the theorizing around the possibilities of economic and political integration of small countries like theirs. The article reviews the main background of these works, as well as the thoughts of three of his most outstanding figures: Norman Girvan, Clive Y. Thomas and Walter Rodney.
