Perfil morfológico de menores residentes en Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca: una propuesta metodológica

Abstract

Starting from somatometric study of 1391 children and adolescents (652 men and 739 women) between 6 and 17 years of age, resident in the Heroic City of Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Mexico, the morphological profile is explored that they present, attributed to the effect of homeorretic process that they have been subjected. For the present investigation they were considered a total of 20 obtained corporal dimensions according to the internationally accepted recommendations. As much the men as the women were divided in two groups according to the status of growth (status 1 and status 2) for that which was used as selection approach the reached stature, having as relating the data of Fields Galván (1975). In the minor contained in one like in another status the values z was calculated for each studied dimension, using the values obtained in a study that parallelly was taken to end in the Mexico City. With the averages of z values somatometric profiles were traced for each group according to the sex and the status of growth. These calculations and the statistics were carried out using the statistical package SPSS-11. The results verify the effects of the delay in the growth observed in a series of corporal dimensions, especially in the stature, the inferior segment and the cephalic perimeter; it fits to highlight that the effects of homeorretic process in the superior extremity are different between men and women. In contrast, the traverse growth, represented in this study by the dimensions of the widths biacromial and bicrestal, they are little affected, while the condition nutricia (appreciated through some indicators) practically it was not deteriorated.
