We present in this work data that demonstrate the different forms of mortuary treatment during the Preclassic period in the valley of Maltrata and that could be related to different cultural areas like the Central Plateau, the Coast of the Gulf of Mexico and the region of Oaxaca. We also pretend to characterize preclassic population throught the osteological evidences found during 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2005 field seasons. This research is relevant since a multiethnic population in this region is evidentiated through the study of the material culture.
