Abstract

During the course of the excavations at Coxcatlan Cave, in Tehuacan, in the state of Puebla, several human burials were recovered. Burials 2 and 3 are of two infants who were apparently decapitated and their skulls interchanged. These burials correspond to El Riego fase, and have an antiquity of 5750 b.C. +/- 250. It will be analyzed in this work the cultural alterations on the bones of these individuals, and the patterns of the modifications established. This will let us determine the principal purpose of this activity.
