Abstract

There have been found hundreds of human bone tools in La Ventilla site in Teotihuacan. In this work, there are described three pieces made with human frontal bones. The modifications and use of human bones like raw material was very common in Prehispanic Mexico; however, only few times have been analyzed from an integral anthropological perspective, with osteobiographical and cultural information (manufacture, use, typology). Likewise, the interpretations of human-induced taphonomic changes (cut marks, chopping, burning and breakage) in human bones usually have been enclosed as violent situations and cannibalism, excluding other possibilities of classification in relation with funeral practices and ancestors cults.
