In this paper we offer data relating to the thoracic index and spirometry in a sample of 236 cyclists, who are grouped in classes from infantile to proffesional, compared with another sample of the same age, geographical origin and control class. The competition cyclists resist a strong selection during their whole sporting life and, on their other hand, adaptation to exercise during growth can modify their morpho-physiology. Our findings show that cyclists have modified thoracic proporcionality and a increased vital capacity. Finally, proffesional cyclists have a thorax proporcionally more deep (p< 0.05) than the reference group, together with increased spirometric capacity (p< 0.0001).
