Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze, using digital photogrammetry through five morphoscopic and morphometric parameters, the variability of the nasal appendix in 1 023 subjets (579 men and 444 women) in a series of Mexican population. In accordance to our results, a predominance of mesorrhins (median noses) exists in both sexes, followed by the leptorrhins (stretch noses) and in less percentage, the camerrhins (wide noses). This is an indicator of the morphological contributions of the Europeans and Africans to the diversity of the actual Mexican hybrid population. The differences in size and form related to sex also confirms the sexual dimorphism of our species, in particular of this important anatomic structure of the face.
