Abstract

In this article it is presented a historical review of the development of anthropology of sport as a scientific subdiscipline in Venezuela and its contribution to the study of man. Currently this field that has been emphasizing its biological aspects and leaving socio-culturally field poorly addressed in research on sport and physical activity. Emerging positions are recognized to offset the biological approach to provide new ways to anthropological research in the area.
