Revocation of the mandate, citizen perception and challenges for the strengthening of participatory democracy in Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to: a) explain what the revocation of the mandate consists of in the context of political change in
Mexico; and b) analyze what are the perceptions and what challenges are observed among citizens to advance in
the democratic construction of the country. A qualitative approach was used through the bibliographic review of the
subject and a survey was carried out, with a non-probabilistic and exploratory vision, in which 125 questionnaires
generated by the google survey system were examined and which were sent to the entire country by email, facebook and whatsapp between March 30 and April 8, 2022. The findings provide evidence that the perception that a sector
of the interviewees has about the revocation of the mandate, confirms that this device is essential to strengthen
the participatory democracy, but there is still a lack of confidence in the democratic exercise to advance in the
discussion on the political content of the mechanisms that are intended to invigorate the interest of citizens in public
and government affairs.
